Why we picked it
The removable animals give you something to point to, move and talk about together. One puzzle can become a naming game, a listening challenge or the start of a story.
Skills to explore
- Animal vocabulary
- Describing features
- Following directions
- Sorting and comparing
- Storytelling
3 ways to play
- Name & find: Choose an animal, name it and find its place in the tray. Add one detail, such as “a long neck”.
- Follow my clues: Describe an animal without naming it: “Find one with stripes.” Take turns giving the clues.
- Tell a little story: Pick two animals and decide where they go, what happens and how the story ends.
Adjust the challenge
Make it easier: Offer two animals at a time. Point, name and model a short phrase together.
Make it harder: Give two clues at once, compare two animals or tell a story using “first”, “then” and “last”.
Product note: Listed for ages 2+; includes 12 wooden animal pieces and a tray. Approx. 25 × 25 × 2.5 cm; sustainable rubberwood.
